We’ve just made it a whole lot easier to shop around for the best energy prices, by using our Powerswitch website.

We’ve added a new feature that allows you to make the switching process much faster. By inputting your details and some information about your usage habits, you can expect to hear from your preferred provider without having to take any further action.

Most retailers have signed up for it, and of the ones that haven’t we expect to add them to the site very quickly.

We’ve also been doing some shopping around ourselves on Powerswitch and found a large family in Christchurch, for example, can make savings of $1000 or more a year by switching provider, while smaller households can save more than $440.

We also found that relative newby online retailer Powershop has some of the cheapest prices to be had. And Powershop’s customers (even our own staff) are a satisfied bunch, more so than other electricity customers.
